About Us

The Chamber's Objectives

The objectives of ARABCCI are to promote and expand relations between Hong Kong/Greater China and Arab countries, more particularly:

  • To coordinate, develop and facilitate commercial, industrial and financial relations by identifying on reciprocal basis their economic potential;
  • To improve and extend opportunities for industrial and technical co-operation, in close collaboration with private and public sector organizations with similar objectives;
  • To encourage the transfer of technology, professional training and the creation of joint ventures in industry and agriculture;
  • To provide information and unqualified advice, at the request of the members;
  • To offer on request our facilities for Amicable Dispute Resolution;
  • To supply information, with the help of competent authorities, on tourism, cultural, scientific and artistic possibilities in the Arab World and Hong Kong/Greater China.


Constitution

ARABCCI is independent of government and has a financial foundation of voluntary subscriptions and fees from professional business services. Every penny the Chamber raises is put back into the Society to provide even better services and wider representations throughout the Arab World and Hong Kong/Greater China.

To help achieve this, we work closely and extensively with both private and public sectors to help ensure that members obtain proficient services and ideal community environment in which to operate.


The Governors

The Chamber performs under advice from the following standing Governors:

The Governors consist of designate Official Representatives of Arab World States, willingly acting in honorary capacity by invitation as observers for their respective States; each having one vote, irrespective of size of State or the extent of voluntary contributions to any budget.

The Governors role is to assist in the streaming of policies and work parameters of the Chamber. Their duty is to facilitate, support and advise in unqualified capacities on activities, programs and budget considerations.


The Council

The Chamber is operated by the following standing Council members:

The Council is the Executive Board, assuring the overall management of The Chamber. It prepares the work of the General Meeting and sees that its decisions are properly carried out. The functions and responsibilities of the Council are derived primarily from the Constitution, rules and directives laid down at General Meetings. The Council consists of a President, first and second Vice Presidents, Treasurer, Secretary and three Councilors. Every year the General Meeting assigns specific tasks to the Council. Other functions stem from agreements concluded between the Chamber and specialized agencies and other intergovernmental organizations.


The Committees

The Chamber works through the following standing committees:

Editorial Committee
Editorial Committee is responsible for the “Monthly Online Bulletin”, the “Arab Cooperation” magazine and the “Annual Directory”.

Finance Committee
Finance Committee's responsibility is to advise the Chamber on financial matters and issues.

Function Committee
Function Committee is responsible for the Chamber activities. There is also a sub-committee in the China and Macau Reference Groups.

Public Relations & Membership Committee
Public Relations & Membership Committee is responsible for the Chamber PR related activities and publications. The Committee aims to increase the membership of the Chamber by actively creating more awareness of its functions, objectives and events to authorities, organizations and the public in general.

Professional Services Committee
Professional Services Committee interacts with/for professionals with Chinese and Arab connections, working separately from the Chamber offices for preparation of various programs and activities.
